Sermon Title: God’s Great Day of Wrath
Sermon Text: Revelation 6:9-11
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer not to create a god created in their own imagination, but to worship the God of the Bible.
Sermon Proposition: There are 3 aspects of God’s protection for tribulational saints’ in the Great Tribulation.
I. The practice of the tribulational saints’ in the Day of Wrath. V.9
A. The tribulational saints’ practice the Word of God. V.9a (1 Cor. 6:19-20; Luke 9:23)
1. There is a strong lesson in this for all believers of all ages. God has a very special place for those who are faithful until death, a place that is close and dear to His heart and throne. This should stir us to be faithful every minute of every day. What a precious and heartwarming thought! (pp. 106)
Matthew 16:25 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
Exodus 25:8 "And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. 9 "According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
Hebrews 8:5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, "See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."
Hebrews 9:23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
2. The state will develop the idea of what could be called a state religion, something close to what exists today in some countries today. Believers, of course, can only give their first loyalty to Christ; therefore, they will be killed, for they cannot deny the Word of God.

B. The tribulational saints’ practice the testimony of God. V.9b
1. They were slain for the testimony they had borne concerning Jesus Christ. The martyrs will believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world. The believers of the end times will be martyred because they refuse to deny Christ. (“pp. 108”) “Revelation”
II. The petition of the tribulational saints’ in the Day of Wrath. V.10
A. The urgency of the petition for justice of tribulational saints. V.10a
B. The usher of the petition for justice of tribulational saints. V.10b
1. The character of Holiness is the basis of the petition.
2. The character of truthfulness is the basis of the petition.
C. The umpire of the petition for justice of the tribulational saints. V.10c
Psalm 74:10 O God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?
Psalm 79:5 How long, LORD? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire? 6 Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You, And on the kingdoms that do not call on Your name.
Psalm 94:3 LORD, how long will the wicked, How long will the wicked triumph? 4 They utter speech, and speak insolent things; All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.
III. The promise of the tribulational saints’ in the Day of Wrath. V.11
A. The promise of a new garment. V.11a
B. The promise of a new grace. V.11b (Rev. 14:13; Rev. 21:4)
Hebrews 4:9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
Job 3:17 There the wicked cease from troubling, And there the weary are at rest.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
C. The promise of a new group. V.11c (Rev. 3:4-5; 7:9)
Hebrews 11:40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
2 Timothy 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,
Conclusion Application:
What a dynamic challenge for us! To be on fire for God and to be proclaiming Jesus Christ! We must not fear; we must be willing to witness for Him even if it means that we must die for Him and His cause of eternal salvation.
