Sermon Title: The Model Follower
Sermon Text: 1 Thessalonians 2:13-20
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer to model the mark of a follower of Christ in a wicked and perverse generation.
Sermon Proposition: Paul provided 4 marks of a model follower of Jesus Christ.
Model followers are motivated by their calling. v.12
The walk must reflect God's call. v.12a
The walk must reflect God's rulership. v.12b (Colossians 1:13)
The walk must reflect God's glory. v.12c (2 Thess. 3:6, 11; Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 1:10; Philippians 1:27)
Model followers are marked by their conformity. v.13
Thankful for their conformity to the word of God. v.13a
Thankful for their conformity to the practice of God. v.13b (Hebrews 4:12; 1 Corin 1:18; James 1:21; 1 Thess. 1:9-10)
Model followers are manifested by their commonality. v.14-16.
