Sermon Title: The Light of Christmas
Sermon Text: John 8:12
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer to a Biblical focus and Christ honoring view of the Christmas Season.
Sermon Proposition: There are 3 Biblical truths related to the purpose of Christmas.

1. The proclamation of Light of Christmas. v.12a

   • The claim of His deity. (John 1:1-5; 1 John 1:1-4; John 6:35, 8:12, 10:7, 10:11, 11:25, 14:6, 15:1)

   • The claim of His destiny. (John 1:9-10, 12-13, 14; Romans 1:19-20; Romans 2:12-16)

   
   
   

2. The promise of the Light of Christmas. v.12b

   • Christ's followers shall not live in intellectual darkness. (Luke 5:29-32)

   • Christ's followers shall not live in moral darkness. (James 2:10)

   • Christ's followers shall not live in eternal darkness. (1 John 5:19)

   • Christ's followers shall not live in spiritual darkness. (Eph. 2:2; 1 John 1:5-7, 2:3-6, 2:9-11; Romans 3:9-20; Eph. 2:1; Col. 1:21)

   
   
   

3. The purpose of the Light of Christmas. v.12c

   • Christ provides the light of eternal life. (John 10:10)

   • Christ provides the light of purposeful life. (1 John 3:7-9)

   • Christ provides the light of meaningful life. (John 6:27-29)

   • Christ provides the light of significant life. (Matt. 5:14; 1 Peter 2:11-12)
