Sermon Title: Worship Around the Throne - Part I
Sermon Text: Revelation 4:1-5
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer to recognize the divine glory of Christ in heavenly worship.
Sermon Proposition: There are 4 observations of Heavenly Worship found in John's vision.

1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this." 2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Revelation 4:1-5 (NKJV)

1. The place of the throne worship. v.1-2a

   "The central theme of John's vision is the throne of God, mentioned eleven times in this chapter. All the features of the chapter can be outlined based on how they relate to that throne of divine glory."
   
   

2. The preeminence of the throne worship. v.2b-3a

   • The posture of reigning. (Isaiah 6:1; 1 Kings 22:19)

   • The posture of majesty. (Daniel 7:9-10; Ezekiel 1:26-28)

   
   

3. The promise of throne of worship. v3b-4

   • The promise of mercy and grace fulfilled.

   • The promise of rulership fulfilled. (Revelation 2:26-27, 3:21, 5:10, 20:4)

   • The promise of white garments fulfilled. (Revelation 3:5, 3:18, 19:8)

   • The promise of crowns fulfilled. (Revelation 2:10, 1 Corinthians 9:25, 2 Timothy 4:8, James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:4)

   
   

4. The preview of the throne of worship. v.5 (Exodus 19:16; Ezekiel 1:13)

   • The preview of the divine wrath of God. (Revelation 8:5, 11:19)
