Sermon Title: Do You Honor God by Your Trust?
Sermon Text: Malachi 2:17 - 3:5
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer to evaluate whether they are dishonoring God by a lack of trust.
Sermon Proposition: There are 3 ways we can dishonor God by our lack of trust.

1. Confrontation because of the lack of trust in God's character. v17

   • The questioning of God's righteousness. v.17a (Isaiah 11:4; John 17:25)

   • The questioning of God's justice. v.17b (Deut. 32:4; Zech. 9:9)

   
   
   

2. Confrontation because of the lack of trust in God's concern. v3:1-4

   • The concern demonstrated by the promise of a Messenger. v.1a (Isaiah 40:3; Matt. 3:3; Mark 1:2)

   • The concern demonstrated by the promise of a Messiah. v.1b (2 Chron. 7:8-10, 30:26, 35:18; Neh. 8:7)

   • The purifying work of the Messiah. v.2a

   • The cleansing work of the Messiah. v.2b (Ezekiel 45:9 - 46:24)

   • The prophetic work of the Messiah. v.3-4

   
   
   

3. Confrontation because of the lack of trust in God's convenant. v5

   • The promise of future judgement based on the convenant. v.5a (Mal. 2:16; Rom. 11:25; Ex. 22:18; Deut. 18:10; Ex. 20:16; Lev. 19:12)

   • The promise of future fear based on the convenant. v.5b (1 Cor. 10:1-13)
